WHEN: Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 7:00 PM Pacific (10:00 PM Eastern)
WHERE: Virtually on Zoom
WHAT: A special event featuring renowned conservation photographer, and longtime Island Conservation ambassador and Advisory Council member, Andrew S. Wright. He will also be joined by Gregg Howald, esteemed biologist, Island Conservation Advisory Council member and staff alumnus. This event will be generously hosted by Canada’s National Observer and Science World, a non-profit science center based in Vancouver, BC that engages learners across the province in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art & design, and math).
Island Conservation works to prevent extinctions on islands, the most biologically diverse places in the world that also experience the greatest rate of species extinctions. This exhibit is a celebration of the organization’s success and features five islands: Gwaii Haanas, Canada – Okinoshima, Japan – Kaho’o’lawe, Hawaii – Palmyra Atoll, Northern Line Islands, South Pacific – Isla Floreana and Seymour Norte, Galapagos. Special thanks to Science World for their partnership, vision, and generous support for this important exhibit.
We hope this exhibit will transport you to the vibrant islands we are rewilding thanks to the help of generous donors.
For further adventure reading, please consider the Pelican’s Paradise, a compilation of Wright’s field reports and photography from islands he has visited with Island Conservation, available in Science World’s Science Store. 100% of book proceeds will be donated to Science World, and an anonymous donor has pledged to match this amount as a donation to Island Conservation.
Island Conservation sincerely thanks Andrew S. Wright and Gregg Howald for their inspiring commitment to combating the global biodiversity crisis through preventing extinctions on islands around the world.
