Odae Bood

Development Officer, Institutional Gifts Manager

Odae Bood brings a background that sits at the intersection of institutional fundraising, international development, and nonprofit operations. His work has spanned applied research in Rwanda with the Boston College Research Program on Children & Adversity, service with the U.S. Peace Corps, and technical appraisal of civil society proposals for multilateral funders. This has included gender-responsive evaluation for UN Women and social inclusion analysis supporting Indigenous land management strategies in Samoa. Before Island Conservation, Odae worked as an organizational development consultant with Gang Alternative, where he supported institutional grant writing, compliance oversight, and budget alignment for multi-million dollar proposals to agencies including the U.S. Department of Justice, Department of Health and Human Services, and Department of Labor. During this period, the organization expanded from a Miami-Dade–focused nonprofit into a regional operation managing more than 30 active programs. He holds dual master’s degrees in Global Markets and History from the Erasmus Mundus GLOCAL program, completed across the University of Glasgow, the University of Barcelona, and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Odae is also a spoken word artist who has performed globally, a devoted Caribbean home cook, and an avid runner. He is also extremely susceptible to a David Attenborough voiceover.
