Director of Impact & Innovation
David received a BS in bioinformatics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and has worked with Island Conservation for more than fifteen years to bridge the gap between conservationists and technical specialists, ensuring that technical solutions can solve conservation problems in the field. These experiences include implementing technology in the field on more than 25 island restoration projects from the sub-Antarctic to the tropical Pacific, managing a successful restoration project on Desecheo National Wildlife Refuge, Puerto Rico, maintaining databases that document the importance and impact of island restoration, and building programs focused on scaling drone technology for island restoration, implementing machine learning and remote sensing technology to accelerate conservation decision making, and exploring the feasibility and suitability of next-generation genetic technologies.
