Kieran Godfrey
Assistant Project Manager - Kawau
Kieran Godfrey grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand, and found his way into conservation through the Predator Free 2050 initiative, starting out in invasive species trapping and helping Taranaki farmers get pest predator control underway on their own land.
He went on to work with Taranaki Regional Council, first on the build-out of a region-wide trap sensor network and later leading field operations for the Towards Predator Free – Taranaki Rural Predator Control Programme.
Kieran is has worked across most parts of the eradication operation, from hunting in the field to the monitoring, mapping, and reporting systems behind it. A drone operator with night flying ratings, he has been closely involved in thermal drone-based pest control.
Outside of work he is usually hunting, trapping, or tramping, and spends his downtime building electronics and tinkering with new conservation tech.
