Anthoni Muñoz

Island Restoration Specialist

Anthoni is from Magallanes, Punta Arenas, Chile. He is a specialist in island restoration, an RPA (drone) operator, and a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) instructor. For many years, he has dedicated his work to the control and management of invasive species.

He served for 10 years in the Chilean Army’s Paratrooper and Special Forces School (Escuela de Paracaidistas y Fuerzas Especiales), where he received extensive training in discipline and field operations. He later worked with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), carrying out the control and management of invasive species such as beavers, mink, and muskrats.

During his time in Tierra del Fuego, Chile’s Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) trained trappers and hunters to have personnel who could control invasive species. That is where he received the professional training necessary to perform his work at a high standard.

In his personal time, he volunteers in Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, he is a trainer of detection dogs for locating both living and deceased persons and has completed courses in Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (BREC, or Búsqueda y Rescate en Espacios Colapsados) as well as wilderness and open-area search and rescue.
