Position Overview

The Pacific IKI Project Coordinator is responsible for leading the coordination and delivery of Island Conservation’s Pacific IKI (International Climate Initiative) Project, ensuring it meets its strategic goals and objectives. This role involves close collaboration with Consortium Partners and internal teams across Field Operations, Partnerships, Impact, Communications, and Finance. The Coordinator will manage project implementation, oversee consultants and contracts, and supervise at least one other staff member.

Duty: Project Management
Tasks Include:

  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of Pacific IKI Project implementation, including
    • directing partner contributions and managing external services
    • overseeing delivery of the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Plan
    • ensuring project activities comply with the project’s Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP)
    • ensuring the project meets its Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) objectives
  • Facilitate effective communication across the Consortium, including regular Governance Group meetings.
  • Manage technical, financial, and administrative components
    • Budge oversight, financial planning, and disbursements
    • Procurement compliance and partner expenditure tracking
    • Interim and annual technical and financial reporting
    • Consultant engagement and audit coordination
    • Compliance with funder administrative guidelines
  • Conduct periodic field visits to partner countries to support implementation.
  • Ensure the project’s complaints resolution process remains in place for the project’s lifetime.
  • Serve as the face of the project and Island Conservation’s POC with project officers from ZUG.

Duty: Team Leadership and Personnel Management
Tasks Include:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to staff and partners.
  • Ensure staff understand and adhere to organizational and funder policies and expectations.
  • Support goal-setting, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Promote staff wellbeing, fair compensation, and use of benefits.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven project culture aligned with Island Conservation’s values.

Additional Responsibilities

Flexibility Requirement: Approximately 5% of the duties and responsibilities may be adjusted based on the evolving needs of the supervisor and the organization. This may include carrying out tasks outside of or in addition to those outlined in the job description. This flexibility is essential to support a dynamic response to evolving priorities and objectives.

Essential Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field and minimum of five years’ experience managing complex environmental projects.
  • Proven track record of delivering multi-year projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience working with multicultural and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong understanding of biodiversity, social development, and climate resilience in rural communities.
  • Experience of integrating GESI (Gender, Equity, and Social Inclusion) principles into conservation programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and video conferencing tools.
  • An ethic of service and/or conservation to benefit the natural world and people.
  • Valid passport and drivers’ license.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks.
  • Knowledge of invasive species threats and management in Pacific Island ecosystems.
  • Fluency in English and French (written and oral).
  • Familiarity with Pacific cultures and stakeholder engagement across civil society, government, and technical sectors.
  • Experience working in remote field settings and conservation environments.

Flexibility & Travel

  • Depending on where the position is based, the candidate must be able to adapt working hours that overlap regularly with staff in all relevant time zones across the U.S. and Pacific.
