Position Overview
Island Conservation seeks a manager-level human resources (HR) professional. The Human Resources Manager ensures that Island Conservation fosters an inclusive, engaging, cooperative, high-performing global workplace that aligns with our mission and values. This position oversees all HR operations, including payroll/compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, employee engagement, professional development, and performance management across multiple countries in a 100% remote, world-wide working environment.
ISLAND CONSERVATION HAS A STANDARD 4 DAY/8 HOUR DAY WORK SCHEDULE.
FOR THE RIGHT PERSON, THIS COULD BE A DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES POSITION WITH A COMMENSURATE INCREASE IN COMPENSATION.
Essential Duties
60%
Duty: Human Resources Management
Tasks Include:
- Manage and optimize world-wide payroll operations through EORs, PEOs, or in-house.
- Administer health insurance programs, open enrollment, and workers compensation insurance. Own the relationships with the insurance broker and other HR vendors.
- Oversee employee recruitment, onboarding, and off-boarding.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations through EORs, PEOs, or in-house.
- Implement training and professional development programs.
- Manage the performance evaluation process.
- Assist with compensation review.
- Develop and maintain organized systems for employee records, HR documentation, and reporting.
- Ensure we are a diverse, equitable, and inclusive place to work.

Duty: Administration
Tasks Include:
- Oversee and carry out administrative functions to ensure a smooth functioning organization (e.g. computer procurement and inventory management, office and storage lease management)

Duty: Strategic Planning
Tasks Include:
- Develop and implement strategic HR and administrative plans.
- Align HR and administrative goals with organizational objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of HR and administrative strategies.

This is a full-time exempt position with a competitive salary and a full benefits package, including a four-day/8 hour per day work week. Island Conservation offers a flexible work schedule with a remote home office.
Requirements
- Travel, both within the US internationally, may occasionally be necessary.
- Must possess a valid passport and a valid driver’s license.
- Depending on remote location requested, must be able to adapt working hours to overlap regularly with staff and partners in all relevant time zones.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR roles, preferably within mission-driven organizations.
- Experience with multinational HR management.
- Comprehensive experience with all aspects of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, compensation, and benefits.
- Ability to influence and motivate teams, build strong relationships with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience in coaching and developing managers and leaders.
- Understanding of employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Highly developed emotional intelligence, interpersonal, influencing and relationship skills and a proven ability to motivate teams.
